Wedding FAQ

When and How should we book?

It’s always advised that you book your wedding suppliers as soon as you can and even more so since Covid-19 affected the wedding industry so badly. Suppliers are getting booked up so much quicker now after having to rearrange so many weddings from the last two years. Once you have a venue and date set then get in touch!

To book I ask you to send over a few details and it’s always nice to have a little zoom chat too, after all i’m going to be third wheeling all day at your wedding so you need to know if you can deal with my face all day! Then when you are happy to go ahead I ask you to sign a contract and pay a £300 deposit to secure your date. This fee will then be deducted from your final payment which is due 4 weeks before your wedding date.

We are awkward in front of the camera, does that matter?

The majority of couples I speak to say this and that is normal. I think most people feel this way (me too!). Please try not to worry, most of your day will be captured naturally with lots of candid shots of you and your guests having the time of your life. When we go for your couples portraits I have plenty of tips and tricks and I keep it as relaxed and fun as possible. If you book a full day package with me then that also includes a pre wedding shoot, this gives you a great practice run before the day and is a nice way for us to get to know each other more.

DO WE NEED A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

This depends on a few things… Do you want photos of both of you getting ready, do you have lots of guests (over 80), if so then yes it’s a very good idea to have someone else there. It’s also good for those moments you may miss, like when you are off with me having your couples portraits, a second photographer can be capturing all the candid laughs of your guests so you see what everyone was up to whilst you were away. All of these images will then be handed over and edited by me in my signature style and added to your final gallery.

Obviously if you are having a smaller wedding and all in one place then we can discuss how I can cover that all on my own!

Do YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Of course! My insurance covers all of my equipment as well as professional indemnity and public liability upto £5m.

what is your turn around time for RECEIVING images?

You will receive some lovely sneak peaks of your day within 4 days of your wedding. I edit all of your photos personally and these things do take time. Your full gallery typically takes 8 weeks during the main wedding season but usually a littler sooner if you have a wedding earlier in the year. I edit all weddings in the order they were shot.

Do we need to feed you?

It’s always massively appreciated! Weddings are a long day, sometimes 15+ hours when travel is factored in, so a warm packed lunch from home is not always the one. Being fed and fuelled is great but that doesn’t mean you have to give me a 3 course wedding breakfast. I do however understand if this is not possible (especially as I am vegan) but if you could let me know before the day I can then try and find somewhere local to pick up something to keep me going!

Do you travel?

Absolutely! I cover the whole of the UK. If your venue is over 80 miles away from PE14 please get in touch for a personalised quote. This will just include a cheap room for either the night of the wedding or the night before if starting early. Sadly I am not currently taking bookings abroad until my son is a little older.

Any other questions I have not covered please do drop me a message through the contact page.

lifestyle FAQ

What should we wear on our photoshoot?

First of all make sure you are comfortable, don’t wear something that really isn’t you and maybe don’t rock up in really high heels to the beach or woods. Here are a few tips.

  • Dress for the season. Sounds obvious but wearing your fave shorts or little floaty dress in the winter means you could be cold and miserable.

  • Plain colours are best but maybe layer things to give some interest. This is controversial but avoid bright white, especially in summer you will glow like a beacon if direct sunlight hits you it can be difficult for the camera to cope.

  • Avoid busy patterns, logos and Character clothing as it can age a photo very quickly.

  • Try to coordinate colours with your partner/family. I don’t mean come all dressed the same looking like the Brady bunch, but choose colour palettes that compliment each other and don’t clash.

  • Use clothing as props. Hats and scarves of all kinds can be used all year round and really help mix up the shots a bit. I do love a big floppy sun hat or a cute wooly bobble hat.

what if my kids don’t coOPERATE?

Believe me I have seen it all. From the super shy, the ultimate poser to the absolute whirlwind, I’m used to it! If they are active and just having fun outdoors that’s great I will just follow and capture the fun, if they are a little unsure I will take my time to get them used to me first. If all else fails… BUBBLES!

Where should we go for the session?

Absolutely anywhere you fancy to be honest! Well anywhere within a 40 mile radius of PE14 but if you have a fave spot a little further away I am always up for travelling if fuel is covered. Choose a place you love and that means something to you. I have lots of places I use regularly but it really is best when you choose a location that has meaning.

How do we book?

Simply pop me a message and enquire about the session you would like and we can discuss dates that are available for us both. Once we have chosen a date I require a £30 deposit to hold that date and the remainder can be paid either on the day or before.

How do you deliver our photos?

Your photos will be delivered to you via a private online gallery. From here you can download all of your high res digital images. Please when doing this save to two different places were possible. Your gallery will stay online for 1 month and then will be removed to make space for future sessions. I always keep your edited images on my hard drive for at least a year.

You can also order prints and wall art directly through your online gallery.

How soon do we see our images?

Typically you will have your gallery within a week. Sometimes during my very busy peak months this may be a little longer but I will always keep you updated if that looks likely at the time of your session.

If you have any other questions or wish to book a session please get in touch via the contact page.
